Mark Raynes Roberts multi-disciplined art project celebrates Canada’s literary treasury of authors and their literature, through the prism of crystal and the photographic lens. The stunning 12 -piece crystal art collection ILLUMINATION – Portraits of Canadian Literature will be unveiled at the venerable Gardiner Museum, Toronto, Ontario. (Oct 26 – Nov 1, 2015) The collection of hand engraved works of art have been inspired by written passages on the theme of light by 12 of Canada’s leading authors including Margaret Atwood, Joseph Boyden, Leonard Cohen, Emma Donoghue, Lawrence Hill, Yann Martel, Rohinton Mistry, Alice Munro, Miriam Toews and Jane Urquhart.

Concurrently the ILLUMINATION – “Portraits of Canadian Authors” digital photography installations presents 150 black and white portraits of Canadian writers and poets, photographed by Mark Raynes Roberts over the past 2 years. Each portrait capturing the author either in their home environment or a place of inspiration, and includes personalized quotes from each author on “why they write.” The exhibitions are on display at the International Festival of Authors, Harbourfront Centre, (Oct 22 – Nov 1, 2015) the Toronto Reference Library, (Oct 11 – Nov 1, 2015) and at 12 Toronto Public Library branches.
